NextGen Ready

NextGen Ready – Empowering the Workforce of Tomorrow

NextGen Ready is a signature workforce development initiative designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the high-growth industries shaping California’s future. Presented by the Redlands Chamber Workforce Development in partnership with the University of Redlands, this five-month intensive program (April – August 2026) offers high school students ages 16–18 a front-row seat to the regional economy.

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry

As California continues to lead the nation in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and technological innovation, the demand for a skilled, local workforce has never been higher. With over one million jobs in San Bernardino County and rapidly emerging industrial clusters, Redlands NextGen Ready serves as a vital link — connecting the next generation of talent with the employers who need them.

A Two-Phased Journey

The program is structured to take students from initial curiosity to in-depth exploration through a series of progressive milestones in our two-phased approach:

    1. Industry Exploration & Skill Development: Students will establish a professional foundation through industry exploration and specialized workshops led by leaders like Esri and Southern California Edison, gaining critical insights into career paths, educational requirements, and essential job-readiness skills.
    2. Immersive Experience: Students will gain hands-on exposure and networking opportunities through site-visits to cutting-edge facilities like the SoCal Gas Hydrogen Home and Sorensen Engineering. Some students may also be offered post-program internships.  Our program will culminate with a formal graduation ceremony and the awarding of a Certificate of Completion, a valuable credential for any future resume.

Strengthening Our Community

For students, this is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a professional network before fully entering into the workforce. For the district and the region, it is a strategic investment that supports CTE goals and strengthens the bond between our schools and local industry.
